Being Unreasonable in Charleston, SC

My keynote speech to members of the Charleston, South Carolina, Regional Development Alliance encouraged attendees to be “unreasonable” when they brainstormed about the future of their regional economy.  I chose this peculiar term because I was inspired by the words of George Bernard Shaw who wrote that “all progress is made by unreasonable people.”  Charleston has made remarkable progress in the past 20 years.  In order to sustain that effort and continue growing, some outdated notions must be set aside.
