Mr. Tercek, sorry I missed the showboating...I guess having the "elite" in the front row had an effect... re; "Hasn’t anyone new entered the digital media field during the past five or ten years?" Yes. Me! Having been the red headed stepchild of monetized iTV back in the late 80's, early 90's, I've just been biding my time, r&d'ing apps, and quantifing the trejectory for the new iTV 3.0, while letting the infrastructure build itself. We are truly living in interesting times...and your views mirror my own. I hope to meet you one day to share these crucial observations on the evolution of Media...

Robert
Caught your comment about Randall while researching something else. I've covered him for 10 years, and believe it or not that was a lively interview for him. He's actually smart and proving an immensely capable money-making machine at AT&T, but is smart enough not to go out in public very much because he's terrible.
At AT&T there are some people who can speal publicly, notably #2 Ralph de la Vega, who said some very smart things at an Om Malik event. He's a modest guy,but understands much of this in depth. Note how well AT&T Wireless is doing. The technical problems coming from cutting capex in half in 2002 and still not restoring it.

T is running about $3B lower than Verizon in capex, apples to apples. That's why the iPhone service sucks. There's a similar but smaller gap between Comcast and Time Warner. Which makes Verizon and Comcast better able to do innovative things such as you spoke about in NY last week.
